About the Film : Adventures in Geocaching

Geocachers in the sport or hobby of geocaching as featured in the documentary Adventures in Geocaching. Adventures in Geocaching explores the emerging game of geocaching and the people who are involved in it.

Geocaching – an Internet-based high-tech scavenger hunting game using Global Positioning System (GPS) devices – is new to many people, who may wonder what possesses people to spend entire weekends on a mad dash or a long hike to find small containers filled with nothing more than trinkets. But to geocaching’s avid participants, it all makes sense.

This entertaining film tells the stories of three wildly different geocachers. Meet TRUROKR, a.k.a. John Noble, dedicated family man, animal lover and environmental activist who loves geocaching for the opportunities to visit new destinations. He speaks with great conviction of how geocachers should give back to the game, and to the community, which puts him at odds with his local rivals, the Ventura Kids, a.k.a. Steve and Sandy.

The notorious Ventura Kids are the self-professed “bad guys” of geocaching. Ranked #3 in the world in total number of geocaching finds, Steve will do whatever it takes to find a cache and wastes no opportunity to remind people of his ranking. Filling out the cast of characters is Aerospacecase, a.k.a. Brian O’Connell, for whom geocaching offers an escape from his clinical depression and helps him get back into life.

These diverse characters allow the audience to discover the mysterious appeal of searching for trinkets. Adventures in Geocaching is a lot more than an explanation of geocaching; it is a humorous, in-depth portrayal of four fascinating characters and their feelings about competition, community, and the search for the elusive Tupperware container.
